Named in honour of the late Brian Kensley, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, who first reported the species under the name Munidopsis dasypus.
Males to 19.2 mm, females to 17.3 mm, ovigerous females from 10.8 mm (Macpherson, 2007; Osawa et al., 2008a)
